Buddharaksa Foundation receives ‘Diamond Humanity Award’ from Sheikhul Islam office

25 October 2019, Bangkok – Khun Thippaporn Ahriyavraromp, Chairman of Buddharaksa Foundation and Group CEO of DTGO, received a ‘Diamond Humanity Award’ from the office of the Sheikhul Islam, Thailand’s leading Islamic scholar, at the 5th Muslim Thai Fair at Indoor Stadium Huamark.

Khun Arun Boonchom, Vice Chairman of the Central Islamic Council of Thailand (CICOT), presented the trophy, which honors sustained action on social issues. The award recognizes the Buddharaksa Foundation, under the leadership of its honorary chairman, Mr. Dhanin Chearavanont, for helping the poor and vulnerable in Thailand without regard to race, religion, or ethnicity.

The foundation’s assistance includes a THB1 million flood relief and rehabilitation fund in partnership with The Foundation of the Islamic Centre of Thailand (FICT). Buddharaksa Foundation partners with the Krisana Kraisintu Foundation to support scholarships for 78 students from Yala, Pattani, and Narathiwat. The foundation also builds capacity in health volunteers and workers in Thailand’s Deep South, working with the Global Fund, Shoklo Malaria Research Unit (SMRU), and Young Muslim Association of Thailand.

Khun Supatcha Suttipol, Deputy Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Social Development and Human Security, attended the presentation along with Dr. Ananchai Thaiprathan and Khun Banyat ThipMuad, presidents of the Muslim Thai Fair. The fair took place this year

under the theme ‘Uniting all goodness to dry immigrant tears’. The annual event raises funds for humanitarian efforts in Thailand, supporting collaborative projects and promoting harmony and love across gender and race.
